1-Year-Old Birthday Party

Mom and dad took me to Brantley’s 1st Birthday Party this past weekend. They put me in charge of gearing the car right and keeping the wine safe. I think I did a pretty good job – I only put the car into neutral once while mom was driving. We also stopped by a sporting goods store on the way to pick up a slider bike for Brantley. I stayed in the car with mom while dad did his thing. I really don’t understand why I can’t go in all the stores. They must think I’d stick my nose in everything, and well, they are probably right. There are just so many things to smell – you should try having scent glands like these! Anyways, the party was fun, and I got to play with Rusty, Gonzo, and all my favorite little wiener dogs. I even snuck in some licks from the leftover cake box in the trash.

Happy Hour

Lexi Puppy

My parents were sitting in a Houston hotel bar waiting to go to a swanky holiday party. My dad was doing some research on breeders for purebred English labs that had good genetics. While sitting at the bar enjoying a cocktail with my mom, he made a call to one of the breeders, who happened to have an impending litter coming due in early July. As mom and dad had planned on getting a puppy soon, and mom wanted a puppy as her ring bearer in mom and dad’s wedding, the timing was perfect. In September, my parents flew down to Austin to pick me up and pick me out of four girl siblings in the bunch (I had the prettiest coat and the cutest face). I’m a mix of yellow lab and red fox lab. I was very quiet and sleepy on the plane ride home, and as soon as I got home, I started running around and chewing on everything in sight and doing my business wherever I pleased. Climbing stairs really freaked me out though. Anyways, as I sit here at two years old, I figure I should start marking down all my adventures, as I’ve been lucky enough to get out and be active with my parents. I have gone on many pheasant and bird hunts, hiked, been snowshoeing, gone up to the mountains, been camping and rafting, and have gone many other places. I’ll document my adventures going forward, because why not?!

XOXO, Lexi
